MONTAUK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Thanksgiving Weekend in Montauk Stars Lighthouse Lighting; Ushers Holiday Events

Montauk Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Nov. 2.

Thanksgiving weekend 2018 in Montauk ushers weeks of family holiday events:

Nov. 22 – 8 – 9:30 a.m. - 42nd Annual Run for Fun/Turkey Trot around Fort Pond Started by John Keeshan 42 years ago, the trot is going strong. Show up at the Village Green to check-in for three or six mile races with categories for all ages. Sponsored by East Hampton Town Dept. of Parks and Recreation. Pre-registration is not necessary. The advance discount entry is $10 ending Nov. 21 at noon, with registration at Montauk Playhouse or Town Parks and Rec Dept. Day-of registration is $15 at the Montauk Chamber 8 to 9:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit the food pantries in Montauk, East Hampton and Springs, as well as Meals on Wheels. Information: 631 324-2417 or

Nov. 24 - Montauk Community Church Christmas Fair 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sale of baked goods, new and used toys, handmade items and other gifts. Santa arrives at 11 a.m. Refreshments are sold.

Nov. 24 - Montauk Library Holiday Book Sale -10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Gift Books, art books, cookbooks, children's books, decorations, jewelry and much more!

Nov. 24 - 10th Annual Lighting of The Lighthouse - 4 – 7 p.m. The Montauk Lighthouse is lit for the season by a special guest and remain on every night until January 1, 2019. Rain date is November 25. Parking and admission to the grounds are free. Includes holiday music and caroling. Santa makes an appearance.

Nov. 25- Sunday Christmas at the Lighthouse – 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy Christmas at the Lighthouse with Santa. The Lighthouse is decorated for the holiday, and hot cider and snacks are served. The Gift Shop is open for holiday shopping. Pony rides are available for young children, and they can be photographed with Santa. Admission to the museum is free during this event. The tower climb is closed. Rain Date: December 2.

Dec. 12- “Starbrite” Storefront Lighting – 5 to 5:30 p.m. Judging for best holiday-decorated Montauk business sponsored by Montauk Chamber of Commerce. Prizes for four “Best” categories: Traditional, Whimsical, Display of Montauk and Brightest.
