Niagara County ranked 26th in state for resident earnings in 2017


Niagara County ranked 26th among counties in New York by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of Niagara County residents was an inflation-adjusted $28,261 per year. Niagara County had 87,978 households in 2017, with a population of 212,675.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was New York County. New York County's median income was $46,152 per year after adjusting for inflation – $17,891 more than Niagara County. It had 758,345 households in 2017 and a population of 1,653,877.

Bronx County had the lowest annual resident income among counties in New York, with a median income of only $20,576 per year. That was $7,685 less than the median income in Niagara County at the time. Bronx County had 495,356 households in 2017 and a population of 1,455,846.
