Census Bureau: More women than men in Hempstead in 2017


Of the 55,698 people living in Hempstead in 2017, 52.5 percent (29,229) were women and 47.5 percent (26,469) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the New York Business Daily.

Females 18 and over outnumbered males in the same age group by a ratio of 17,806-to-17,159. In the 65 years and over age range, there were 3,587 females and 2,132 males.
